Harlan County War
Based on the true story of the Kentucky miners strike in Harlan County in 1973. Most of the population of Harlan County is employed by Brookside Mines. The conditions for the miners are appalling and the pay is very low. After two deaths due to lax safety measures a strike is called. But it rapidly descends into violence and chaos. Holly Hunter stars as miners wife Ruby Kincaid who tells her story of how she fought grinding poverty, brutality and intimidation to bring the plight of the miners of Harlam County to the eyes of the world.

He, and his efficiently violent friend Win, find themselves involved with one of the richest and most secretive families in America, with a particularly brutal serial kidnapper and murderer and with the FBI on one of its off days. <p>Coben takes his wise-cracking series hero and puts him in real physical and emotional jeopardy--the book is impressive, and a decisive break with the formula he had established earlier. Marc turns to the one person he thinks can help him--the ex-girlfriend who still has a place in his heart and used to be a senior Federal agent. The problem is that Rachel comes with baggage, and enemies, all of her own...<p>This is an impressive book about suspicion and how easy it is to make the wrong guesses; it is a triumph of misdirection. He, and his efficiently violent friend Win, find themselves involved with one of the richest and most secretive families in America, with a particularly brutal serial kidnapper and murderer and with the FBI on one of its off days. <p>Coben takes his wise-cracking series hero and puts him in real physical and emotional jeopardy--the book is impressive, and a decisive break with the formula he had established earlier.
