Romper Stomper
In a terrifyingly intense performance, Crowe plays Hando, the intelligent and charismatic but viciously sociopathic leader of a gang of racist skinhead misfits battling for white supremacy amidst the working class suburbs of Melbourne. One of the main targets for the skinheads' aggression is the local burgeoning Vietnamese community. Following several violent run-ins with a gang of Vietnamese youths, Hando and his cronies find themselves on the run from both the immigrants and the police. Meanwhile, a rebellious rich girl, Gabe (Jacqueline McKenzie), has joined up with the skinheads after becoming attracted to Hando. A wild and impulsive character, Gabe's tempestuous behaviour soon threatens the close relationship between Hando and his right-hand man, Davey (the late Daniel Pollock). This is a provocative and challenging look at the destructive forces of ignorance and intolerance.
