Buddy Holly - Rave On - The Story Of A Musical Legend
On February 3rd 1959 in a snow-covered cornfield near Mason City, Iowa, the plane carrying Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and 'Big Bopper' J.P. Richardson crash-landed, killing everyone on board. Buddy Holly was just 23 years old and his career had spanned a little over two years. His hits, including 'That'll Be The Day', 'Peggy Sue' and 'Oh Boy', were some of the most influential in early rock 'n' roll. He was one of the first to use drums and rhythm with the basic country style and his band The Crickets were among the earliest to use the new standard line-up of two guitars, bass and drums. Buddy Holly's vocal style and melodic compositions inspired many later musicians - the Rolling Stones' first major hit was a cover of his song 'Not Fade Away'. Featuring contributions from international stars such as Keith Richards, Waylon Jennings, Phil Everly and Graham Nash as well as a host of photos, rare footage, performance clips and exclusive interviews.
