John Lewis Bergerac Dining Armchair, Alsace
Made exclusively for John Lewis in the south of France from solid French oak, this rustically styled collection is inspired by 18th and 19th century French antiques. Its hinges and keyholes are made from solid steel which is rusted and then hand-polished to give it the appearance of old rifles. The furniture has a distressed finish to create an impression of age and use. The timber is selected for its natural characteristics and given time to dry and age, so no two pieces will be exactly alike in colour or grain. This light finish is called Alsace. Traditional production methods allow for movement in the panels as the wood expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. To maintain its rustic appearance, splits and holes in the wood will be filled and should not be considered a fault. To maintain its natural lustre and counteract the drying effect of central heating, simply apply a natural beeswax a couple of times a year. Avoid the use of silicone spray polish and wipe up spillage with a damp cloth. Delivered fully assembled. Exclusive to John Lewis.
